A Sphinx-like rock
On a beach in Sydney, a local shared a photo of a ‘Sphinx-like rock' as reported by MailOnline. The rock in question has a carving of a face on it, which looks a lot like the Sphinx, and it is partially covered in moss.
The rock was discovered on the Manly to Spit walking track in the northern beaches region. It was Kevin Decosta who made the discovery and decided to share it on Facebook.
How did the sculpture end up at the beach?
According to Kevin Decosta, the sculpture could have landed on the beach due to recent bad weather. In his Facebook post, he explains that he often walks through this area and it was the first time in a while.
I come to this location often but this is my first time in for quite some time due to the crappy weather.
Other Facebook users then replied to Kevin’s post saying they recognised the Sphinx rock. One suggested it could have come from a commune of artists squatting on the cliff in the 1970s.
Some users then expressed their desire to visit the location, with others explaining they never knew it existed.
