Kate Middleton attended the University of Saint Andrews, on the east coast of Scotland.
During her time there, she met fellow student Prince William. They both graduated in 2005.
During their courtship, Prince William introduced Kate to his father, then Prince Charles.
Kate reportedly impressed Prince Charles with her ‘assuming grace’.
Kate later revealed what meeting Prince Charles was like: 'I was quite nervous about meeting William's father, but he was very, very welcoming, very friendly, it couldn't have gone easier really for me.'
Kate attended this event with her parents, and they sat in the front row alongside Prince Charles and his wife Camilla. Prince William was one of the military cadets graduating from training.
Prince William proposed to Kate in 2010, while the pair were in Kenya.
King Charles gave a speech in the country in 2023, and he said: 'It was here, in sight of Mount Kenya, that my son, the Prince of Wales, proposed to his wife, now my beloved daughter-in-law'.'
The couple got married in 2011, and Prince Charles reportedly got involved in the planning of the big day.
He gave some ideas for music, saying in 2020: ‘My eldest son was quite understanding and was perfectly happy for me to suggest a few pieces for their wedding.’
After the ceremony, the newlyweds drove off in Prince Charles’ Aston Martin .
In 2012, when Kate announced her first pregancy with Prince George, Prince Charles said: ‘It’s a very nice thought to become a grandfather in my old age, if I can say so. I’m thrilled, marvelous.’
In that same year, the pair were snapped happily ironing artwork onto silk during a visit to a gallery.
In 2014, the pair chatted outside a Christmas Day church service at Sandringham.
In the 2016 Trooping the Colour ceremony, Prince Charles was just behind Kate and her two children, George and Charlotte.
In 2018, Kate and Charles were pictured having a chat as they visited the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Stanford Hall.
The pair were seen sharing a laugh at a Christmas Day Church service in 2018.
In 2019, the pair happily shared a carriage with their spouses at Ascot.
Kate and Charles greeted each other with a kiss on the cheek at the James Bond 'No Time To Die' premiere.
In the same year, Kate was overheard calling her father-in-law the sweet nickname ‘Grandpa’.
Princess Kate joined her in-laws at the Prince’s Foundation training site in 2022.
Later that year, King Charles named Kate the new Princess of Wales (and William the Prince of Wales) after his ascension.
In December 2022, Charles appointed Kate as the Colonel of the Irish Guards. The title previously belonged to William.
In May 2023, Charles and Camilla were blessed and anointed as England's new king and queen. When King Charles passed by Kate's pew, she curtsied as a sign of respect.
