Sunak is married to Akshata Murty, daughter of N. R. Narayana Murthy, co-founder of the Indian multinational IT company Infosys, and the pair have two daughters together. Between Akshata’s dividends from her shares in Infosys and Sunak’s hefty salary as PM, the pair are sitting very comfortably financially. Their property portfolio reflects this as the Sunaks own the same number of properties as members of their family. The four homes have a combined estimated worth of £14m million.
Penthouse flat in California
In August 2023, Sunak took his family on holiday to California, where they have a penthouse flat. The property is in Santa Monica, on Ocean Avenue. Ms Murty bought the flat directly from the developer in 2014 and it is said to be worth £5.5million.
According to The Standard, ‘the penthouse has panoramic views of Santa Monica’s double jointed pier and the Pacific Ocean and has a reputation as being the best fishing spot in Santa Monica’.
Yorkshire Manor
As well as being PM, Rishi Sunak is the Tory MP for Richmond in Yorkshire. He has a large manor property near his constituency. He and his wife purchased the 19th century Grade II-listed house for £1.5 million in 2010. The Georgian manor comes with 12 acres of land, and was undergoing a £400,000 makeover in late 2023 - including a swimming pool, gym and outdoor tennis court.
London properties
The family own two properties in Kensington, London. They have a pied-à-terre in South Kensington’s Old Brompton Road which Sunak first purchased when working as an investment analyst for Goldman Sachs. They now keep it free for family members to stay in when visiting London.
They also own a five-bedroom mews house which they bought one year into their marriage. They paid a reported £4.5 million for the London pad which is now worth an estimated £7 million. It has four bedrooms and two reception rooms spread over a spacious four storeys, and a private garden. This is the family's primary London residence.
