Rishi Sunak, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, is back in the news this week, because of his favourite McDonald’s food. This news follows in the footsteps of a report by Metro UK about the Conservative Party MP’s apparent inability to use a contactless debit card, earlier last week. He had to be taught how to use one.

Sunak’s favourite McDonald’s food item
As reported by The Guardian, in an interview with ITV’s This Morning, Sunak was asked about a photograph of him in a McDonald’s a day earlier. The hosts of the program, Rochelle Humes and Andi Peters asked him what he got to eat there. Sunak replied that he got a bacon roll with ketchup and pancakes since it was early in the morning. He further continued,
If I’m with my daughters then we get the wrap. My eldest daughter – if I’m with her, it’s the wrap with hash browns and everything in it. It’s what we do.
However, much to the surprise of people who might want to try the MP’s McDonald’s order, the food item in question actually does not exist anymore. The Guardian reported that McDonald’s has actually confirmed that McDonald’s breakfast wraps have been discontinued for a while. According to The Sun, McDonald’s permanently discontinued the McDonald’s wraps in 2020.
Is Rishi Sunak ‘out of touch’?
Although Rishi Sunak is trending for being a McDonald's fan, like the rest of us, others have accused him of being 'out of touch'. It does not help his case that he seemed not to know the price of a loaf of bread, as reported by Metro earlier this year.
The Sunreported a British voter as saying,
He is not in touch with the North, he is not in touch with working class people. He is not in touch with what is going on in the world.
This trails earlier accusations of Sunak maintaining ‘rank hypocrisy’ and ‘being completely out of touch’ by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, as reported by The Independent.
While we are left to guess if Sunak has set foot in a McDonald's in over 2 years, a source from his campaign told The Guardian that Sunak had indeed eaten the wraps when he was with his children. He is quoted as saying,
I think given he’s barely seen his kids in the last two-and-a-half years, it’s likely he hasn’t been to McDonald’s in that time.
