On Saturday 16 September, Channel 4, in collaboration with The Times and Sunday Times released a documentary about Russell Brand. This documentary is the result of a long investigation and allows alleged victims of the presenter to speak out.
Russell Brand faces accusations of rape, sexual and emotional abuse. This newest scandal in the entertainment industry has reached news cycles everywhere and is fueling the debate around the UK’s entertainment industry concerning the behaviour of its star presenters.
But while this was an expected way for the media to be shaken up, the Russell Brand scandal is now having TV presenters arguing live on air…
Andrew Pierce confronts Beverley Turner live on air
On Tuesday 19 September, Andrew Pierce was trending on X (formerly Twitter) because of a viral moment during his GB News show which he hosts with Beverley Turner.
In the clip, which we’ve linked below, Pierce directly confronts his co-host about a tweet she published in support of Russell Brand. In said tweet, Turner calls Brand a ‘hero.’
This ‘hero’ title is what really bothered Pierce and he decided to talk to Turner about it live on air. He said:
Bev, that is shameful.
Continuing:
You have dismissed in one tweet a four year investigation by Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 (...) Don’t you think that before you say he's a hero, you should establish whether these very serious allegations are true?
Turner then started to defend her tweet saying that she had been in contact with sources ‘close to Brand and The Times’ and that she was confident in her statement. She also argued that the ‘Establishment media’ doesn’t care for women who are assaulted in the UK unless they are attacked by a famous person.
The two presenters continued to argue, speaking over each other, until Turner was able to explain that she thought Brand was a ‘hero.’
All these newspapers that gave one side of the pandemic, he was a lone voice. He talks about stuff that matters. I’m telling you, the reason he’s a hero to millions of people, millions, is because of his position on politics in the last three years.
The two have continued their argument off air, both tweeting their sides of the story behind the viral clip.

Andrew Pierce, a controversial figure still
Andrew Pierce’s stand on the Russell Brand scandal took viewers and X users by surprise. Indeed, GB News is not known to go against men who have been accused of sexual misbehaviour. The obvious example of that is GB News presenter Dan Wootton who remains on air two months after serious allegations were made against him.
X users point out that very dichotomy:
