Death at the workplace
Sergey Milyakov, was the chief engineer aboard the shipping vessel called MB Aldnah. He was found dead at his workplace, inside his room on the ship, Daily Mail reports.
The MB Aldnah was destined to sail to Mumbai from Bangladesh and was shortly moored at the Paradip Port in Jagatsinghpur of the Odisha province in India.
Meanwhile, the port authorities at Paradip confirmed the engineer’s death and said an investigation into Milyakov’s death was launched.
According to the Independent, Kremlin officials have yet to comment on Milyakov’s death.
A string of mysterious deaths
Within a matter of just two weeks, Milyakov, becomes the third Russian citizen to mysteriously die in the province of Odisha in India.
In late December, successful sausage entrepreneur turned Russian Member of Parliament, Pavel Antov, fell from a hotel window.
Antov was in India to celebrate his birthday with two close friends. While in India, one of Antov’s friends allegedly suffered a fatal heart attack. Two days later, Antov himself was found dead on the hotel grounds by the staff.
The Independent reports that police officials at first pointed out suicide as the likely cause of death, but Antov’s postmortem report concluded the death as accidental.
After Antov’s death, media reports suggested that in June he criticised Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine by describing Russian airstrikes as ‘terror’.
At this point, it is unclear if the deaths of the three Russians in India are somehow connected.
Nevertheless, they become the latest to perish in a string of mysterious deaths of Russians since the beginning of the Ukraine War.
