It’s no secret that Russian propaganda doesn’t spare words in threatening imaginary enemies in a bid to unite their people around Vladimir Putin and what they still call a ‘special military operation’.

Ever since he launched his disastrous full-scale invasion of Ukraine, all Russian independent media has been exiled or shut down, threatened to go to jail otherwise.
It created North Korea-style journalism, with the narrative being strictly controlled by the Kremlin and scaremongering targeting both the local population and the ‘evil West’.
An Evening with Vladimir Solovyov on the Russia 1 channel became the most popular TV show in this genre. It frequently discusses strikes on European countries and the US, demonises the ‘satanic’ West and boasts about Russia’s ‘nuclear might’.
This time Vladimir Solovyov and his guest targeted London City, calling for its destruction. Here is what they said.
What was Russia’s threat to London?
Mikhail Delyagin, a member of the Russian State Duma, the equivalent to MP in the UK, has used fiery language when sending his threat to the country during another episode of Evening with Vladimir Solovyov.
The politician believes that London City is one of the ‘culprits’ to ‘blame’ for the UK's financial possibility to support Ukraine.
In a short video posted on Twitter by Anton Gerashchenko, Ukrainian internal affairs adviser and, according to his bio, ‘official enemy of Russian propaganda’, Delyagin can be heard saying:
As long as the City of London is not destroyed and exists as one of the financial centres of the world—if only a secondary one...this cadaver-like poison is a danger. We will bury them.
Delyagin, who is sanctioned by both the UK and the US, did not directly mention missile strikes on London City which suggest that there are no plans of action behind his ominous threats and their only purpose is to fit Kremlin’s narrative.
He attacked London City’s role as a financial centre and ominously predicted that ‘capitalism is ending,’ which is also in line with anti-Western and especially anti-American propaganda that dominated the narrative since the launch of Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This is not the first time Russia threatens the UK
Russian politicians, celebrities and pro-Kremlin journalists criticised, condemned and threatened the UK before.
Just last month Russian ambassador in the UK Andrei Kelin warned that the 'escalation may get a new dimension' if the country doesn't stop providing Ukraine with weapons.
Just before that Vladimir Solovyov promised an 'appropriate response... in military terms'by Russia after Britain's decision to send missiles to Ukraine.
The latest threat from Mikhail Delyagin comes as the UK delivered its Challenger 2 tanks and Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine and pledged more support to the war-torn East-European country.
Referring to rebuilding Ukraine after the war, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that ‘it's clear Russia must pay for the destruction that they've inflicted.’
The Pentagon also promised more support saying on Tuesday that it would provide Ukraine with Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) as part of a $1 billion contract in which 17 other countries would also get the systems.
