Unbelievable public discourse on state media
The 60 Minutes show on Russia-1 Channel, aired a live debate this past Monday (September 19) about the topic of nuclear war between Russia and western powers.
The channel often communicates messages of punishing the western world for their incursion and assistance that they provide to Ukraine.
Andrey Gurulyov, a member of the Russian Duma and a former Army commander, belittled the recent comments by U.S. President Biden when issuing a warning to Russian President Putin about not using nukes and other weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine.
As Newsweek reports, Gurulyov also rhetorically asked ‘why should we nuke Germany or Ukraine, when there is the U.K. as the root of evil?’
To that the anchor, Olga Skabeyeva, added ‘we should do it today, all the best people are there’ pointing to the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and all the western dignitaries who were present for the formal ceremony.
The aftermath of a martian desert
On Monday, London hosted western leaders such as U.S. President Biden, French President Macron, the Japanese Emperor Naruhito, and many more, to bid their farewell to the Queen.
The U.K. is one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine, which is why it is falling into the crosshairs of public comments by Russian authorities.
Gurulyov was ridiculing Biden’s assertion that Russia would nuke Ukraine, saying:
Did you hear all that nonsense he was spouting? What made him think we would conduct a nuclear strike against Ukraine?
He added that Russians need Ukraine to live there, while they have many targets in the Western world, and preferred to strike the U.K. with nukes and turn it into a 'martian desert.'
The co-anchor of the 60 Minutes show, Evgeny Popov, interrupted Gurulyov by saying that the U.K. also has nuclear weapons, but the latter replied that the Russian weaponry would decimate the U.K.’s capabilities, pointing out to Russia being more powerful in that regard.
Newsweekpreviously reportedthat Gurulov, who has been sanctioned by the U.S. since March 24, 2022, advocated last month on the same program that Putin should launch nuclear strikes on the U.K. ‘which would be the end of the British Crown’.
