'Decapitating strike'
Lavrov referred to the alleged plan for an attack as a 'decapitation strike'.
The Moscow Times reported on Lavrov's interview with the Russian Tass news agency where he warned the West against a strike on Russian President Vladimir Putin:
The one who’s gone the farthest of all the others is in Washington. Some 'unnamed officials' from the Pentagon actually threatened to deliver a 'decapitation strike' against the Kremlin, essentially a threat to physically remove the Russian head of state.
Lavrov asked those individuals to think long and hard about the consequences of such a strike:
If someone really has such ideas, then this someone should think long and hard about the possible consequences of such plans.
'Destroy' Russia
Lavrov also claimed that the US and its NATO allies through Ukraine are doing everything they can on the battlefield to destroy Russia, Republicworld reports:
The actions by the collective West and their puppet Zelensky confirm the global nature of the Ukrainian crisis. It is no secret that the strategic goal of the US and its NATO allies is to win a victory over Russia on the battlefield as a mechanism of weakening or even destroying our country.
According to Lavrov, the US is benefitting from the Ukraine crisis as they have been able to divorce Europe from their Russian ties and enhance their dependency on their NATO ally:
Washington has also been solving a key geopolitical goal of breaking the traditional bonds between Russia and Europe and making their European satellites even more dependent on them.
