Customers beware of Ryanair. Although the Irish airline is known for its budget flights, one simple mistake can cost you a lot of cash. If you fail to check-in online before your flight – or even fail to print your tickets – Ryanair makes some serious bank.

How the fees work and how to avoid them
According to Ryanair’s website, airport check-in is available, but charges – assumedly ‘service’ fees – apply.
The fees range from £20 if you don’t have your boarding pass printed to £55 if you also have not checked in online. Passengers flying fromSpainface different fees and are subject to £30. What’s important to note is that these charges apply per person.
To put this in perspective: If you are a typical family of 4 and have failed to check-in and print your boarding passes, Ryanair would profit £220 on top of the price you paid for your tickets (which was almost certainly cheaper).
If you can’t print your boarding pass for whatever reason, download the Ryanair app and complete the process from your mobile. Remember to have your booking details and identity document on hand!
‘Worst airline check-in experience ever’
Harish G., a Ryanair customer who has likely taken his business elsewhere, left an impassioned review of the airline in 2018. That’s right – Apparently, Ryanair has been fining customers for failure to adhere to their strict check-in policy for 4 years now.
He wrote on TripAdvisor:
They charge 55gbp per person if you miss to check in online and also make you stand in several queues to make it any better…We ended up paying double for our flight due to 55gbp fees for each boarding pass.
Even if you are flying with a different airline, it is always advisable to read up on any special terms and conditions they have by visiting their website. Take it from Harish G. – always check online before checking in.
