The Met Office announced on Wednesday its predictions for the rest of the month and anticipate there could well be more snow this January as temperatures remain low.

The forecast comes as the country continues to endurewet weather with downpours and drizzle passing through the southwest today and windy, coastal gales sweeping through the west, as per The Independent.
‘Severe gales’
Tonight will see rain and severe gales across Scotland which will ease tomorrow when there will be some dry spells before rain reaches the southwest later on.
Heavy blustery wind and rain over the weekend will turn to showers carrying on through until Monday, with the heaviest in the west and sun more likely in the east. More wind is also expected as we move into the unsettled weather of week commencing 9 January, as per the Met Office:
Unsettled and relatively mild weather is most likely to characterise the beginning of this period, with showers or longer spells of rain likely for many areas. Windward coasts and hills, especially in the west, will see the heaviest and most frequent showers, but also a chance of some heavy rain across southern areas for a time.
Snowfall
Conditions will remain wintry throughout the country from next week onwards, bringing with it the possibility of snow on Monday. If freezing conditions do occur, it is claimed, ‘any snowfall will probably be confined to the highest hills in the north.’
Mid-January will provide some drier interludes though this will be accompanied by an increase in ‘overnight frosts and morning fog-patches’. Shower spells will mostly be restricted to the north and northwest of the country.
The latter part of the month temperatures will be largely returning to average as conditions become milder though more wet and windy spells are unfortunately expected, as per The Met Office.
