Tesco issues urgent recall over popular food item with 'possible health risk'

If you buy ready-made pasta sauces in Tesco, this product recall can directly impact your health. The popular supermarket chain urgently takes one of its most popular dinner staples off the shelves.

Here is what not to eat and what to do if you have purchased this product recently.

‘Unsafe to eat’

The mega-retailer is withdrawing its Tesco Arrabbiata Sauce from the shelves due to health and safety concerns.

The product may contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means it is a possible threat to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to dairy or its constituents.

The product comes in a pack of 350g and has a ‘best before’ date of March 2, 2023.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) publishes recent food recalls on its website, and issued a statement:

Tesco is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

This product may contain milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

You can claim a refund

The supermarket asked its customers to not consume this product if they have a milk allergy and to return the purchase to the store where a full refund will be given.

No receipt is required.

The chain added:

Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused.

According to the FSA, sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.
