It’s official, female astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir are the two women who recently embarked on the first all-female spacewalk while on board the International Space Station! NASA originally planned this project for March 2019, but it ended up being cancelled. These two astronauts however, finally managed to leave the Station on 18th October this year.

Their first steps
Christina Koch and Jessica Meir, the two astronauts who have been commended by everyone in their field, were chosen by NASA for their impeccable careers as well as their good cooperation skills and relationship. The two women were incredibly happy with this decision and were quick to post the news on Twitter! During their spacewalk, the two women also received support from the American president: ‘I just want to congratulate you, what you do is incredible. You’re very brave people.’

While the two astronauts were floating 415km above the Pacific Ocean, all they could talk about was how happy they were.
‘We recognise that it is a historic achievement and we do of course want to give credit for all those who came before us. There has been a long line of female scientists, explorers, engineers and astronauts and we have followed in their footsteps to get us where we are today,’ added an emotional Christina Koch.
A dream come true
Christina Koch and Jessica Meir are the two astronauts who are currently being celebrated by everyone in their field. They were chosen by NASA because of their impeccable careers as well as their good cooperation skills and relationship, having both been promoted to the position at the same time. They have worked together for the past six years, creating a bond of invaluable trust between them in what they do.
However, the first two women to ‘walk’ together in space still have their feet firmly on the ground and were keen to pass on this message.
‘It was a great honour, and an event, the symbol of exploration by all those who dare to dream and work hard to make their dream come true.’
