Monday the 15th of April, at 6.50pm exactly, it was announced that there was a fire burning in the attics of the Notre Dame in Paris, whose structure was under renovation. Even though the spire of the cathedral collapsed and the framework has disappeared, “the worst has been avoided,” as President Emmanuel Macron declared.

“Two-thirds of the roof of the Notre Dame has been severely damaged,” clarified General Jean-Claude Gallet, commander of the Paris Fire Brigade. The line that it was an accident seems to be favoured and an inquiry has been launched. But one thing is sure; the two belfries have been saved, as well as the collection of artworks that were part of its “treasure”.
