Multiple charges put Trump in hot water
Tonight, 3 August, Donald Trump will appear in person before a federal court in Washington D.C. At least that's what his lawyer announced. The businessman is charged with four counts.

Attempted election fraud in the 2020 presidential election and the storming of the U.S. Capitol by Trump's supporters on January 6, 2021.
He is accused, among other things, of being responsible for the fact that at the beginning of January 2021 several of his supporters stormed the Congress building in Washington and wrecked it, as Stern reports. The coup also claimed several lives.

Further criminal proceedings are already waiting for him
The four charges, according to Sky, are as follows:
- Conspiracy to fraud in the US
- Conspiracy against justice
- Corruptly obstructing an official proceeding
- Conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding
Each of the charges carries a maximum penalty, each ranging from a minimum of 5 to 20 years in prison.
So for the next few weeks, Trump could be quite busy. As Sky further reports, he is charged in New York with 'paying hush money during the 2016 campaign' and faces trial there next March. Then, in May, the issue will be an initiated trial in which he will have to account for why he allegedly kept secret documents in his vacation home. Later, another trial could follow in the US state of Georgia 'over allegations he tried to undo his 2020 election defeat in that state.'
