It was the manager of a storage company, Vlatka Lake, who threw a spanner in the works. She claims that you mustn’t store your eggs in the fridge door. Why? The reason is simple:

‘Sudden changes in temperature when the fridge door is opened and closed makes the eggs go rotten quicker than if they were kept at just one temperature.’

Another tip to follow to keep your eggs as fresh as possible: you have to avoid storing them next to raw meat and strongly-smelling food, in order to avoid contamination.
