A makeover can be life-changing not only for humans but for dogs too. A simple accessory can be a missing ingredient and hold the key to success. This is what happened to ‘sweet’ but ‘scary-looking’ pitbull Bonnie, who was struggling to find a forever home. But the moment she wore that funny propeller hat, everything changed.

She was going to be put down
Pitbull Bonnie was rescued from a local shelter by Grandma Betty’s Animal Rescue only five minutes before she was going to be put down. The charity admits that ‘something in her big brown eyes’ told them she was the sweetest dog ever and just needed a chance to show it. They were absolutely right. Shortly after Bonnie joined them, Lili Follett stepped up to foster her and quickly ‘fell madly in love' with the adorable pet, The Dodo writes.
Lili said:
She is the sweetest, most loyal dog I’ve ever met. She would follow me around my apartment like a little duckling — never more than a few feet away from me no matter what I was doing! She would also wait for me to wake up every morning and walk over to me to get her morning pets. If I didn’t pet her long enough, she would get even closer to me until I gave her enough love!

Scary gone funny
Lili knew that any family would be so lucky to adopt Bonnie and tried to find a loving forever home for her. Sadly, most people seemed to be scared of the pooch’s fierce look. Seeing people’s reactions made the foster mama realise that Bonnie needed a makeover. This is how the funny hat idea was born. Who could possibly be scared of a dog in a propeller hat?
Luckily, the pitbull liked wearing the head garment, and Lili could see a change in people’s behaviour almost immediately.
She commented:
When people see Bonnie with the hat, they smile, laugh and definitely try to interact with her much more. We’ve had cars slow down to yell about how cute she is out of their windows almost every time I take her out for a walk.
The foster mama also said that parents were more willing to let their kids play with Bonnie and that some passers-by would even stop and ask to pet the scary-gone-funny-looking dog.
After Lili ‘went above and beyond’ to show Bonnie the sweet-natured dog she truly is, the pair achieved the result they so wished for. Bonnie got noticed!

Viral on TikTok
After ‘the dog with a propeller hat’ Bonnie went viral on TikTok, someone saw her story and offered her a forever home. The lucky pet is currently back at Grandma Betty’s Animal Rescue and will soon travel to her new owner. She can't wait to settle in with a loving family and continue amusing people with her propeller hat. It’s amazing how dedication, a bit of creativity, and a funny propeller hat can change the course of someone’s life!
