The shop Forever 21 has been right at the middle of a scandal on social media. Customers have reported, with supporting evidence, that they have been receiving weight-loss protein bars in with their orders that include plus-size clothes. Other skinnier customers have also received them.

Well here is a sales partner that doesn’t have much tact. Forever 21, a clothing brand that sells clothing loved by young people, is currently at the heart of a scandal after they have been sending their customers weight-loss bars.

The clothing brand is associated with Atkins, a company that sells low-carb protein bars that. But several customers who ordered clothes from Forever 21 were surprised to find Atkins’ newest product in their packages, low-carb lemon protein bars, intended to fill you up without you needing to worry about the calories.

#Forever21: the controversy on Twitter

It didn’t take long for the reactions on social media to flood in, especially on Twitter. Customers, furious and offended, called out the two brands.

‘Wow @Forever21 I am plus size. To add a diet bar to any order is insulting!’ fumed one user.

‘I feel like having an Atkins bar sitting next to pile of reject clothes can trigger something very negative and even dark in people’s heads. […] I’m not sure what other message they think they would be conveying other than one of shame,’ stated another internet user.

All sizes were affected

However, customers who ordered plus-size clothing weren’t the only ones who received these bars. These famous weight-loss bars were found in packages that contained small and medium clothes and even packages with just jewellery or accessories inside.

One Twitter user who also received this bar said all the clothes in her order were in the ‘small to medium range.’

‘It seems like everyone’s orders are targeted,’ she said on Twitter. As for the brand, Forever 21 published a statement in which they explained

‘From time to time, Forever 21 surprises our customers with free test products from third parties in their e-commerce orders. The freebie items in question were included in all online orders, across all sizes and categories, for a limited time and have since been removed.’
