Abducted while jogging
CCTV footage provided by Memphis police found that she was abducted by an unidentified person who shoved her inside a mid-sized dark SUV and taken from the scene. Unfortunately, the direction the car drove towards is not visible from the captured footage. According to CNN News, Memphis Police Major Karen Rudolf told a news conference:
When we arrived on the scene we were handling possibly a missing person. After further investigating we found video that did show a black SUV pull into the area across the street here where the victim was taken.
Photos released by police show Fletcher wearing a pink jogging top and purple running shorts running in the neighbourhood near the University of Memphis. Even more shocking, the 34-year-old teacher's broken telephone was found near the scene where police believe she was abducted.
Who is Liza Fletcher?
Fletcher is a junior kindergarten teacher and a mother of two standing at 167cm with brown hair and green eyes. Her family are now working with CrimeStoppers and offering $50,000 to anyone who can provide pertinent information that could lead to getting her back. In a statement shared by CrimeStoppers Executive Director Buddy Chapman, the family said:
We look forward to Eliza's safe return and hope that this award will help police capture those who committed this crime.
