The extra money comes from the Household Support Fund (HSF) which was launched by UK Government two years ago, in a bid to help the ones with the lowest income cope with the rising expenses. This pot of cash is now worth £842 million and offers a helping hand with bills, food and energy vouchers, and other costs, all depending on your local council as it sets the rules and distributes it.
Find out if you are eligible and how to apply.
The recent announcement comes as the majority of the low-income families have now received the first instalment of the £900 cost of living payment. If you are still waiting for it, contact the Department for Work and Pensions directly.
You may receive over £90 in support within days
The Household Support Fund was first introduced in October 2021 and has been extended four times since then as way too many families still struggle with the aftermaths of the Covid-19 pandemic while the ongoing war in Ukrainekeeps food and energy prices high.
The Government's latest extension made another £842 million available from April 1 this year.
The kind of help you’re entitled to from the Household Support Fund and who gets it depend on your local council.
It has been announced that residents in Nottinghamshire can get up to £60 to back their struggle with energy bills plus an extra £30 per person towards food costs and other essentials.
