The RSPCA is appealing for information after three chihuahuas were abandoned in a cardboard box in a car park near Avebury stones, a popular tourist attraction in England. The charity rescued the dogs and is in disbelief of how someone could be so cruelas to leave the pooches to die a painful death. The investigation is ongoing.

Left to die in blistering heat
A good samaritan found the distressed trio near Avebury stones in England at 8am on Sunday, August 14. It is unclear if the pooches had to spend the night there. As they looked like they needed urgent care, their kind-hearted rescuer didn’t waste a minute and took them to the vet.
The dogs, two older female chihuahuas Babe and Tinkerbell and a younger male named Ferdinand by the team caring for him, were in poor condition.
RSPCA inspector Sharon Chrisp commented:
These three dogs were dumped like rubbish and left out in the open during the record temperatures of the recent heatwave.
Babe had a severe open wound on her back right leg and was in pain. She had to have emergency surgery to remove the limb.
The cost of living crisis is not an excuse for extreme cruelty
The charity saw a dramatic rise in animal cruelty this summer, with 245 reports of mistreatment every day. Fuelled bythe cost of living crisis, this heartbreaking trend impacts more and more innocent lives like Babe, Tinkerbell, and Ferdinand.
The RSPCA fears that, with the post-lockdown increase in ownership and the rising cost of care, they may see more pets lose their homes.
But the charity is not persuaded that there is a valid excuse to abandon an animal like this.
Charity’s Sharon Chrisp added:
These poor dogs must have been terrified to have been dumped, especially Babe who will have been in pain from her untreated injury.
It is not clear who could have been so heartless as to leave the three chihuahuas to die in the scorching heat. The charity has so far been unable to trace their owner and is now keen to speak to anyone who may have leads.
