Many parts of Europe have been hit by bad weather of late. Indeed some parts of the UK were given flood warnings yesterday, September 1. Spain has also been affected by huge gusts of winds and storms.

As a result, Brits travelling to Spain, including Barcelona, Mallorca, Ibiza and Valencia have been given a warning as the bad weather is set to continue. Holidaymakers have seen some crazy weather during their vacation, with one reporting a storm ‘like a hurricane’ hitting her hotel.
Spain hit by major storm
As reported by Chronicle Live, the AEMET weather agency has predicted that Spain will be hit by several storms, bringing heavy rain. The country could experience up to 50 mm of rain per hour.
This warning comes just after the Spanish island of Mallorca and other parts of Spain were hit by a powerful storm.
The weather warning was issued on Friday, September 1 and is in place until Saturday, September 2, evening. Due to the hurricane-force winds, several flights have been cancelled. As reported by Birmingham Live, winds reached up to 62 mph.

One holidaymaker recounts her experience
One holidaymaker in Spain recounted her experience to Wales Online. Wendy and Alan Penson from Wattsville, Caerphilly, stayed at the Punta del Mar hotel and spa just outside Santa Ponsa in Mallorca.
The storm hit their part of the island and reportedly wrecked parts of the hotel, with lounge chairs flying into the sea and the pool due to the strong winds.
Wendy said:
It said to expect thunderstorms on the news but we saw the weather change and Alan said ‘start filming’, and we couldn’t believe how quickly it changed. It was just like a hurricane coming through from the sea into the cove.
Adding that a boat on the sea was damaged by the storm:
There is a small yacht opposite us and it ripped the sail off that. The Bali beds aren’t light, they’re made of steel, but the storm just took them like they were nothing. I was speaking with someone who works at the hotel and she said when the temperature starts to drop after a period of no rain, this tends to happen. But she said they’ve never known it like this before.
