She continues:
There are so many billions of stars out there in the universe that there must be all sorts of different forms of life. Will they be like you and me, made up of carbon and nitrogen? Maybe not.
She adds:
It's possible that they are here right now and we just can't see them.

Former Pentagon official cites ‘very compelling evidence’
Helen Sharman is not the only one who believes in extraterrestrial life, having spent eight days in Earth’s orbit as a researcher at the age of 27. In an interview with CNN, a former Pentagon official who ran a secret government programme looking for potential UFOs revealed in 2017 that he was convinced that extraterrestrial life forms had already reached Earth. He said:
My personal conviction is that there is very convincing evidence that we may not be alone,
Without being able to state with any certainty or engage the US government, the former official referred to astonishing UFO sightings made in the course of his research:
These aircraft - we'll call them aircraft - have characteristics that are not currently included in the US inventory or in any foreign inventory of which we are aware.
More recently, it was NASA boss Bill Nelson who admitted that it was highly likely, if not preferable, that extraterrestrial life existed. After talking to pilots who have had such encounters, he says:
They know they've seen something, and their radar has locked on to it. But they don't know what it is. And we don't know what it is. We hope it's not an adversary here on Earth that has this kind of technology.
