Chocolate and cheese products are being urgently recalled due to fears they could be contaminated with listeria bacteria.

If a person consumes the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes, they can be infected by listeria or listeriosis. According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA):
Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.
Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.
Chocolate recall
Thousands of Cadbury products have been recalled at major supermarkets. Cadbury dessert pots made by dairy and milk supplier Müller are being removed from shelves.
Müller said the following products with the below use by dates have also been recalled as a precautionary measure:
- Cadbury Crunchie Chocolate Dessert 75g - May 17, 2023
- Cadbury Flake Chocolate Dessert 75g - May 17, 2023
- Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons Chocolate Dessert 75g - May 18, 2023
- Cadbury Dairy Milk Chunks Chocolate Dessert 75g - May 18, 2023
- Cadbury Heroes Chocolate Dessert 6x75g - May 18, 2023
- Cadbury Daim Chocolate Dessert 75g - May 18, 2023
These products are sold at supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, and Asda.
If you have bought one of the items listed above, you should return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund. You do not require a receipt to get the refund.

Cheese recall
The FSA has also issued a recall alert for four goat cheese products made by Cricket St Thomas due to fears they 'might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes'.
Cricket St Thomas also said the following products with the best before date of May 26 are being recalled as a 'precautionary measure':
- Cricket St Thomas Capricorn Goat Cheese 100g
- Somerset Capricorn Goat Cheese 100g
- Somerset Capricorn Goat Cheese 85g.
- Co-op Goats Cheese 85g
Three of the products are sold by Tesco and Waitrose, with the fourth sold by Co-op. The FSA advised customers who have purchased any of the products:
If you have bought any of the [four] products do not eat them.
Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.
