The ongoing war in Ukraine has led to the West trying to find ways to stop Russia without completely intervening. As a result, the West has been placing various sanctions on Russia. However, this doesn’t seem to dissuade Vladimir Putin. In fact, it seems to be egging him on.

A ‘threat to humanity’
Dmitry Medvedev, a former Russian President, has said that sanctioning Russia poses a ‘threat to humanity’. Indeed, he said on Telegram on Wednesday, July 6:
The idea of punishing a country that has one of the largest nuclear potentials is absurd. And potentially poses a threat to the existence of humanity
As reported by South China Morning Post, Medvedev said that any attempts by the West to investigate Russia's actions in the war would ‘risk global devastation’. Indeed, Ukraine and the West believe Russia has committed war crimes.
Dmitry Medvedev accuses the US
Dmitry Medvedev also accused the US of supposed war crimes, according to Politico. Medvedev mentioned the nuclear bombs the US dropped on Japan during World War II and the one they dropped during the Vietnam War:
Was anyone held responsible for those crimes? What tribunal condemned the sea of blood spilled by the U.S. there?
He also mentioned the atrocities the US inflicted on their Native population:
The entire U.S. history since the times of subjugation of the native Indian population represents a series of bloody wars
