Vladimir Putin: Russian politicians from his regime have been making terrifying threats on state TV

Throughout the Ukraine War, Russian politicians and media pundits have not refrained from dropping threats and shocking ideas on TV debates. This week was no different.

Zelenskyy will not be safe anywhere in the world

Andrei Lugovoi, a Russian lawmaker and politician, who is also wanted by the British police, participated in the local TV debate show 60 minuteswhere he issued a direct threat to Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Lugovoi, said that the Russian regime will chase Zelenskyy anywhere in the world.

‘Sure guarantees have been given to Zelensky and his circle by American and British intelligence. I'm sure that in California or somewhere else, there are hidden camouflaged homes," he said but "for every single one of them where they are planning to spend the rest of their lives... I don't think that their lives will be very successful or fortunate.’

According to Newsweek, Lugovoi, is wanted by the British police on suspicion of the murder of Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian intelligence officer, who had defected to the UK only to die of poisoning after.

In an inquiry by the European Court of Human Rights in 2021, it was found that Russia was responsible for Litvinenko’s assassination, and Lugovoi and Dmitry Kovtun, who has died in April, were found as the main culprits. However, Russia has denied any extradition requests.

Shooting POWs

In another TV debate, Alexander Kazakov, a member of the Duma, the Russian Parliament, did not refrain from inciting his country to commit additional heinous acts in Ukraine which would be considered war crimes.

Kazakov, was calling for Russian military units to begin shooting Ukrainian Prisoners of War (POWs).

In the debate, there was also Victor Olevich, a political analyst, who replied to Kazakov with a sobering comment.

According to Olevich, the shooting of POWs would likely trigger Ukrainians to do the same and this would not help Russia.

‘This is a war crime. What we see here is a war crime. If Russia starts not to take any POWs, but just shoots everyone, then the Ukrainian side will also be shooting ours. Is this what Russia needs? No, of course this isn't what Russia needs.’
