Vladimir Putin ‘lured’ Prigozhin under false pretence
As reported by Express, an unnamed source allegedly close to the Kremlin revealed to Bloomberg that the Russian Defence Ministry lured Yevgeny Prigozhin back to Russia after they had threatened to take control of the Wagner Group.
The source then explains that Prigozhin flew back to Russia in order to talk things out with the defence ministry. However, before making it to Moscow, the plane he was in, along with 9 other members of the Wagner Group, crashed just 50 km from Putin’s residence in Valdai.
The White House has also suggested that the Russian authorities are behind the deadly crash but the Kremlin has ruled this claim as a ‘complete lie’.

Vladimir Putin allegedly threatened the Wagner Group
The Kremlin source revealed that Yevgeny Prigozhin was ‘furious’ when his mercenary group was banned from using Russian military transport in August. Moreover, the Defence Ministry had stopped the Wagner Group from using the Khmeimim Air Base in Syria, which they had been using since 2015.
Finally, the source adds that days before Prigozhin’s death, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, Russian Deputy Defense Minister, had visited Syria and Libya, claiming that the Russian state would soon be ‘in charge’ of the Wagner operation.
Prigozhin was allegedly flying back to Moscow ‘to try to iron out those problems’. In a new video that emerged on Friday, September 1, Prigozhin was reportedly in Africa.
