While the great majority of foreign leaders have denounced Vladimir Putin's recent claims of independence for rebel areas in Ukraine, Donald Trump, of course, has another reaction.

Tensions between Ukraine and Russia continue to grow. Vladimir Putin, who for a time assured that he wanted de-escalation, is now showing just the opposite by recognizing the independence of the pro-Russian separatist territories.
The international community, which has already imposed a series of penalties against Russia, has severely criticised the move.
When asked about Putin's strategy, Donald Trump did not fail to devote his admiration to his Russian counterpart he said, 'it's genius!'
Trump adds:
So now Putin is saying, 'It's independent', for a lot of Ukraine. I was like, 'Isn't that smart?' He will enter (the territory) as a guarantor of peace.

Trump's shocking revelations
Donald Trump does not stop there and continues to praise Russian military power:
It is the strongest strike force for peace that I have ever seen. I had never seen so many tanks. They will keep the peace, that's for sure. Think about it, here is a guy who is very clever, I know him well. Really very good.
In any case, Putin's strategy seems to inspire the former President of the United States who already sees himself doing the same in his country with Mexico.
