Dr. Jill Biden (69), was born 'Jill Jacobs' in 1951 in New Jersey and was the eldest of five daughters. Her father was a bank clerk who would go on to become the head of a savings and loan institution and her mother was a stay-at-home mom who instilled her with her love for reading and literature.

Private life
Dr. Jill Biden's first marriage was to Bill Stevenson who was an entrepreneur. She met senator Joe Biden in 1975 after his brother, Franck Biden, set them up on a blind date.
Joe Biden had gone through quite a traumatic event in his life just a few years earlier. He had lost his first wife Neilia and his daughter in a car accident. His two sons, Beau and Hunter, were also in the vehicle at the time of the tragedy, but luckily survived, although they did sustain some injuries from the accident.
Jill and Joe got married in 1977 and in 1981, the couple welcomed a daughter to the world, Ashley Blazer. In 2015, death once again struck the Biden family when one of Biden's sons, Beau Biden, died at the age of 46 from a brain tumour.
Teacher first
The decision to marry Joe Biden was not an easy one for the PhD student since her teaching career was very important to her:

During the presidential campaign, Dr. Jill Biden didn't hesitate to put her professional life on hold to support her husband and campaign alongside him. In official campaign spots for the Democratic Party, Joe Biden talks about her, describing her as 'tough and loyal.'
Outside the presidential campaign, Dr. Jill Biden is a very hard worker and works in lots of schools, both with adults who have gone back to school and children. Jill Biden currently works in Northern Virginia Community College and has also been an English teacher in Delaware public schools, working with emotionally disturbed children.
