The snow has caused major travel delays
As can be expected with heavy snow, major delays are likely to happen. Indeed, chaos has been ongoing in Cumbria as drivers were stuck on the A595 for 19 hours. Ant Brett from Essex told his experience to the BBC. He explained that he was on his way to Cumbria for a family wedding but never made it:
I've been stuck since 4pm on Saturday. I was heading up to a family wedding - it's fair to say I didn't make it. The cars here haven't had any water or food supplies. I'm down to my last bit of water and having to ration it. I know the emergency services are busy but we've just been left here without help.
The M6 also had some major delays, Paul Smith shared his Saturday evening experience with the BBC:
The snow just came down and as you can see the road all the way down is still blocked. We're still about a mile-and-a-half from Ambleside and it's just been like moving ten yards, stopping and moving again.
As per Sky News, roughly 2,500 people have woken up to no power in Cumbria as they experienced heavy snow overnight.
