According to a report published in The Sun, there are many ways through which you can know for sure if your iPhone has been infected with malware. These are signs to look for:
- Phone battery dying too fast
- Receiving a lot of pop-up ads
- Unexplained apps on the phone
- A surge in data consumption and unexplained phone charging
Often these malware-infected phones lead to the disclosure of private personal information to hackers. These hackers can then demand any amount of money as ransom to not leak your private information or misuse it.
How to fix a malware-infected iPhone
If your iPhone displays any of the aforementioned symptoms, there are chances that it has been infected with malware. Here’s how you can fix it:
Reset phone
The best way to get rid of any virus is to reset your iPhone to factory settings. Do not take any backups on iCloud before resetting your phone as it may also back up the malware on the cloud.
Restore it
This way can only work if you know for sure when your phone was infected. In this option, you can restore your iPhone to the last version of your iCloud backup. All you have to do is reset your phone and set it up to your previous version of the iCloud backup.
Cleanse your phone
Remove all apps that may look suspicious or you don’t use anymore. To prevent your device from being hacked again, make sure it's running the most recent version of iOS.
