The constant need to be the perfect version of what society calls ‘beautiful’ is definitely palpable whenever one goes through the pages of most influencers on TikTok or Instagram. More often than not, the average top female influencer has definitely had her behind enhanced by liposuction. Most look great in the photos, but do these procedures have health risks?
The ‘hour glass’ frenzy
According to a recent survey carried out by the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of butt lifts that have been performed globally has grown by 77.6% since 2015.
In 2017, Dr Mark Mofid, a leading American BBL surgeon also revealed in a survey published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal that 3% of the 692 surgeons he had surveyed had experienced the death of a patient while performing the surgery.
In summary, one in 3,000 BBL procedures resulted in death making it the world’s most dangerous plastic surgery procedure. In the last three years, three British women—Abimbola Ajoke Bamgbose, Leah Cambridge and Melissa Kerr—died from complications during the procedure they did in Turkey, a famous ‘BBL Surgery’ destination for most UK patients.
The inevitable
BBL is definitely a trend that has come to stay. Most women who want to have that ‘banging’ look will definitely go for it despite the risks involved, however it is necessary to state that if the procedure is absolutely necessary then it is imperative to get it done by an expert and not a quack doctor. If it is not properly done it could lead to major complications and the person may live to regret that decision for the rest of their life.
The procedure is quite pricey too. The average procedure costs between $3000 to $30,000.
The human body is frail and no matter how much one tries to make these enhancements they will eventually sag with age, it is not a matter of ‘if’ but a matter of ‘when,’ so you can choose to get a new butt from a surgeon or you could accept that you are amazing, just the way you are.
