‘A Wide Range Of Symptoms’
Unlike previous variants of the coronavirus, the symptoms of Omicron are more difficult to pin down; they have blended in with symptoms of seasonal illnesses such as the flu. Studies being conducted by scientists in this field point to a range of symptoms of the Omicron variant which have not been recorded in earlier ones.
The US-based Center for Disease Control, or CDC, has come out to say that people with Covid can have ‘a wide range of symptoms’. These range from cases of mild nasal congestion to difficulties in breathing which require urgent medical attention.
But an emerging symptom that’s on the radar of researchers has to do with your toilet habits.
Diarrhoea & Covid?
Diarrhoea could be a sign that you’ve caught the virus, Omicron to be precise, according to the CDC. It is also thought that people with compromised immune systems are most likely to experience diarrhoea and other gastrointestinal complications.
However, the experts clarified that since diarrhoea is a symptom of numerous medical conditions, it should be considered alongside other traditional Covid-19 symptoms. Fatigue, breathing trouble, muscle and body aches, a headache or sore throat are all common symptoms that one should look out for.
The NHS currently advises that anyone with even mild symptoms of Omicron should:
Get a PCR test (test that is sent to a lab) to check if you have Covid-19 as soon as possible. Stay at home and do not have visitors (self-isolate) until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test. Check if people you live with need to self-isolate.
