Popping a pimple on 'danger triangle' on your face could give you brain infection

Soon, the comments on the video mentioned the 'triangle of death.' Lots of people also suggested a possible staph infection owing to that.

Turns out, you should not pop a pimple on your nose or around your mouth. The area can be described as a triangle beginning between your eyebrows and continuing around the corners of your mouth. This is the 'danger triangle!'

Cleveland Clinic quots Dr. Alok Vij who warns against popping pimples on the triangle saying,

The reason for this is that this section of your face is directly linked to your brain through your cavernous sinus. These are a rich network of veins located behind your eye sockets.

So, any infection on this portion of the face could have far-reaching impact. However, note that the chances of that happening are generally small. As Dr. Vij states,

Thankfully, it’s relatively unlikely. But whenever there’s a violation of the skin and interaction with bacteria, there’s always a possibility for infection, which can lead to greater health concerns.

In rare, and serious cases, an infection of the face can lead to septic cavernous sinus thrombosis, a blood clot in your cavernous sinus. This can cause brain abscess, brain infection, meningitis and even stroke.
