Everyone knows we can get bruises very easily. But having bruises for no reason can be a serious warning sign. One morning, Thea Wilson woke up covered with gigantic bruises all over her body. This 37-year-old woman had not drunk alcohol the night before, she was completely sober so hadn't forgotten anything, and she had not suffered any form of violence.

Afraid of the amount of bruising that was covering her body, she went to see a doctor urgently. After several tests, the doctors came to the conclusion that Thea had a rare and very advanced form of leukemia that affects around 100 people each year worldwide.
Thea underwent intensive chemotherapy and six months later she was in remission. She will still have to carry out blood tests every three months for three years because there is a risk of relapse. But Thea is a fighter: 'Leukemia can come back but that will not stop me from living my life,' she said.
