It has already been proven that not getting enough sleep can be detrimental to your health. But a recent study has just revealed that getting too much sleep can also have harmful effects on your body. What’s worse, sleeping more than 10 hours a could eventually lead to a 30% increased risk of premature death.

Looking at the data
The study, led by Keele University’s School of Medicine whose results were published on 3rd August in the Journal of the American Heart Association, reveals that sleeping too much increases your risks of dying from a stroke by 56% and 49% from a heart disease.
The results also show that the quality of your sleep can affect your health.
‘Clinicians should have greater consideration for exploring sleep duration and quality during consultations,’ explains leader of the study Dr Chun Shing Kwok to The Guardian.
