This scientific study has some rather surprising results. While there's certainly no lack of fertility advice on the internet, this is something we've never heard before.

Apparently, women who have had their tonsils and / or appendix removed are more likely to become pregnant. These results were found by the University of Dundee after a 15-year study. The researchers looked at the records of 530,000 women in Britain and found that those who had one or both of these removed had an easier time getting pregnant.
However, the study does not explain the reason for this observation. One hypothesis is that the link might be purely hormonal and behavioural.
The craziest thing in this story is that old studies claimed the opposite. The old data explained that in order to avoid getting pregnant, the tonsils or appendix had to be removed.
