Choosing a name can be hard
Some parents name their children after celebrities, some after family members, and still others just because they enjoy the sound of a specific name. Although many elements go into naming a kid, a person's name is a crucial aspect of who they are and how others view them. It may also be an embarrassment for people who chose names that draw attention to them for all the wrong reasons.
Yes, there are some names that you can’t go wrong with – according to societal norms – but then there are names that people regret, or simply are out of style and even risking going extinct, with fewer newborns on the received end.
According to experts at Vitabiotics who analysed governmental data from 1996 to 2022, some baby names are simply getting ‘cancelled’ with each upcoming year, thus predicting their falling popularity in 2023. Their research found 20 girls’ and 20 boys’ names are set to go extinct in 2023, with a falling trend since 2020. Moreover, they found out that some of the names were once a staple of Generation X and Baby Boomers, but not anymore.
