At first glance, these two tracks do not seem to be the same length. But this is only an optical illusion, since they are in reality identical. This is a visual phenomenon known as a ‘Jastrow illusion,’ which does have a scientific explanation. The human brain first compares the lower edge of the top track with the upper edge of the second. Thus, their size difference makes our brains think that one of the tracks is longer than the other, but all you have to do is align the corresponding sides and the effect disappears.
