Have oral sex in the shower
Having period sex in the shower can be risky business, especially if you’re having a heavy flow. You, or your partner, can end up slipping and sliding on the blood in the shower and may even break a few bones in the process.
Oral sex, on the other hand, can be amazing under the shower. Your partner can firmly plant their knees on the ground and satisfy your clitoris with their tongue while the water washes away the blood.
Try using a menstrual cup
A menstrual cup is a god-given product for menstruators who love oral sex during periods. It contains the blood within the vagina, making leakage very minimal. So, the odds of your partner accidentally licking up some of your blood are going to be extremely low. Jess O’Reilly, host of the Sex With Dr Jess podcast told Women’s Health:
Many people prefer cups over tampons because they don’t have a string and they feel more confident that the fluid won’t leak.
Use a towel to save your sheets
One reason why many people avoid doing anything remotely sexual during their periods is because they’re afraid to get their linens bloody. A simple solution is to spread out a dark-coloured towel on top of your bed. It’ll absorb the blood and keep your sheets squeaky clean. If you want to be extra careful, then you should layer a few towels on top of each other to make sure the blood doesn’t soak into your sheets.
