Certified sex therapist, Lori Michels, believes that the first thing you should do if you want to get started on some stimulating phone-time with your partner is ask for consent and arrange the terms and conditions to cater to both your wants and needs. After all, not everyone is into the same kinks so it's good to have this conversation to break the ice and to see if you can find something that works for both parties.
The good thing about these types of conversations is that they only strengthen a relationship by creating space for more ample dialogue to be had. So talk it out with them and see what both of you are willing to put into this new sexual venture. Sex educator, Gigi Engle, explains that:
You have a right to think about whatever you want during sex or masturbation, but your partner does not have any obligation to fulfil or be open to a fantasy they’re not comfortable with.
The dos and don'ts of phone sex
So now that you understand the importance of consensual phone sex, here are some valuable tips and tricks to guide you through what could also be a very awkward sexual experience.
1. Verbalize what you like and what turns you on: the hottest thing you can do for your partner is remaining authentic in revealing what truly turns you on because it will show if you are merely performing or disclosing a hot and steamy sexual fantasy.
2. Get into character: though you must not over do it and sound like a bad and cheesy actor in a porno, role playing could allow your inhibitions to completely go away allowing you to tap into your more daring side.
3. Make it interactive: if you need something to get you started—or inspired even—watch porn together, use a sex toy if you have one at your disposal, turn on the camera setting and get creative.
4. Don't forget about the logistics: the last thing you would want to happen is having the battery of your phone dying right before reaching climax. So charge that bad boy up, make sure you find yourself somewhere quiet and private and set the mood with some candles if that's what tickles your fancy!
