What's the point of ASMR?
According to Giulia Poerio, ASMR researcher and professor at the University of Essex in England:
ASMR is a term used to describe a sensation experienced by some people in response to visual and auditory triggers.
ASMR is this mysterious sensation, this tingling feeling of pleasure that puts you in an 'almost a trance-like state.' In fact, it's sometimes compared to a brain orgasm.
How does ASMR work?
ASMR is backed by science. In 2015, researchers Emma L. Barratt and Nick J. Davis identified four main types of triggers:
- Whispering (75%)
- Personal attention (69%) such as when you're at the hairdresser or someone cooks for you
- Clear sounds (64%), such as tapping hard surfaces
- Slow movements (53%)
ASMR can be felt in the head and can extend to the tips of the hands and feet. As such, it makes sense that these sensations would be used for sexual pleasure.
What is sexual ASMR?
There are so many ways to treat ourselves and satisfy our sexual desires. Some novelties are more laughable than others, but others might (pleasantly) surprise you. Sexual ASMR is one of them.
ASMR can be used to make yourself feel good. Relax, get creative, and imagine yourself or your partner using unusual objects, such as a feather tickler, or loosening a tie, with a variety of sounds in the background, such as the buzzing of a fly, whispering, etc.
To do this, you can role-play and whisper your fantasies, or stop and pay attention to the sounds around you and any physical sensations you may be experiencing.
The goal is to find a way to turn yourself on, like a trigger! Then you'll be more stimulated and more present when it comes down to it. Enhanced sense-perception guaranteed.
The only way to know if you like it is to try it out. More details in the video at the top of the article.
