A lasting relationship inevitably has an impact on your daily life, especially on your food preferences. A study recently published in Appetite magazine has shown that the longer the relationship lasts, the more common tastes are reinforced within the couple.

To reach this conclusion, researchers observed 100 couples from Poland and Germany aged between 18 and 68 years old.
The duration of their relationships ranged from three months to 45 years. Their tastes in terms of flavours, be it sweet, bitter, sour or salty, and smell were analysed, resulting in a categorical result.
The longer a couple has been together, the more similar their tastes would be according to the study.
Scientists do not have a definite answer regarding this phenomenon yet. Since we generally eat what we like, it would be easier for us to pass on our tastes to the person we share our life with, which isn't that surprising in the end.
