Studies show that although sex won't cure your cold (but that doesn't mean you can't try...!), sexual activity may in fact reduce your risk of catching a cold as it helps to produce more of the antibody that prevents illnesses, which boosts your immune system.
And if you're still up for getting down with your partner, there's a way to do it that won't spread your illness!
The sex positions for colds
Colds and the flu are viral infections transmitted via saliva and breath, so, face-to face positions are not your friend during flu season (yes, including missionary). Instead, forward/backward facing positions are best.
Although there are many positions where you won't end up face to face, like doggy style, if you're ill you might want to conserve your energy with a less vigorous position, and one where the healthy partner is more in control of the action.
Depending on which partner you are, we recommend spooning sex (best for when the penetrated partner is sick) or reverse cowgirl (best for when the penetrating partner is sick), as both positions allow the cold-struck partner to lie down and enjoy the action!
Bonus tip
If you're simply too tired for penetrative sex, oral sex and manual stimulation don't significantly increase the risk of getting your partner sick either!
